Faster than my desktop Review by shenboogs
This is the first laptop I've ever owned. I've always gone with a gaming desktop because of the price performance ratio. It wasn't until nVidia came out with the GTX 10 series that I even considered purchasing a laptop for gaming. I knew if I was going to lock myself into a graphics card I didn't want to be settling for less performance than I was accustomed to with desktop cards. By now I've played all my favorite games on this laptop and I can honestly say that it is better than my desktop rig equipped with a GTX 970. My desktop is only a year old and it doesn't have a SSD (it does have SSHD, which is still very snappy) but I do notice a difference with start up, load times, and web browsing. Right now this is the best deal I could find that hit all of my requirements: g-sync, NVMe SSD, 17.3" display, and surprisingly very light. I would recommend getting a cooling pad because the laptop does get hot when gaming. If you are on the fence about going from a GTX 9 series to this GTX 1060 laptop card, don't be, for this price it is well worth the money. On a side note this is also the first IPS display I've used and it has spoiled me. (Posted on 1/20/2017)
The best value I can find anywhere Review by Austin
This is my first gaming laptop. I had a few criteria going in:

1. GTX 1060 - Good performance/value ratio
2. 16 gb RAM
3. 256 gb (minimum) SSD
4. IPS Screen

This is the least expensive laptop I found that hit all of these criteria. Plus, to boot:

1. The IPS screen refreshes at 75 hz (as opposed to almost every other IPS screen, which refresh at 60)
2. The SSD is PCIe
3. ASUS claims its RAM is 12% faster than its competitors (not sure if true?)
4. The keyboard has good give and the trackpad is responsive/not jittery.
5. You get a wireless ASUS game pad (that's surprisingly good) and a copy of Forza (haven't played it yet)
6. The build is solid and pretty slim, considering

I do have a few complaints that didn't impact my score because they seem common in most gaming laptops.

1. The keyboard is squished to squeeze in a totally unnecessary numlock pad
2. There's no fn toggle mechanism, meaning I need to hold down fn in order to adjust my volume
3. The color design and 'Republic of Gamers' branding is ridiculous
4. The 1 tb hard drive is annoying - I'd rather that laptop manufacturers ditched this addition and just provide a 512 SSD instead
5. The left ctrl key is tucked in the far corner of the keyboard, meaning ctrl+w, ctrl+f, and ctrl+t are a pain to type
6. Clicking on the track pad can get dicey at times

All said, this laptop 1) is the cheapest of its class, 2) has some neat extras, 3) doesn't have any negatives that its competitors don't also have.

Would highly recommend, especially since CUK's selling this laptop tax-free. Would also recommend buying an ultra thin laptop fan to slide under this thing while gaming. It doesn't get too hot but a good fan's always a helpful addition. (Posted on 1/14/2017)
Love the computer, not a fan of the keyboard Review by wtrva
I love the power and specs of this laptop. Has everything that I want and more. However, I personally am not a fan of either the trackpad or the keyboard. I find the number pad to the right of the keyboard to be very close to the main keyboard and I find myself accidently clicking the ROG Game Center button when trying to hit the backspace key. The trackpad is okay I guess, seems responsive, however, being a Dell users for work for so many years, I prefer separate buttons for the left and right mouse buttons click. I am considering a Bluetooth keyboard, and have already purchased a Bluetooth mouse. Overall though, I am still loving this laptop. For the size, it's light wait. The fan is quiet (well, I assume there is a fan there, but I haven't heard it yet) The screen is sharp. I do seem to have an issue with my browser losing wireless network connectivity, even when my cell phone is still connected, but that could be something random I have going on. Overall, very pleased with my purchase! (Posted on 1/3/2017)
